ALMOST A WHOLE YEAR IN FACT!

I fought in ticket battles every BLOODY time and didn't hit.

I even used two different email accounts in order to try and get tickets! I still didn't hit!

I tried Toujitsuken (on the day ticket) and DIDN'T HIT....

I followed FAN REPORTS every PERFORMANCE!!

THERE WERE 37 PERFORMANCES IN TOTAL THIS TIME!!

I EVENTUALLY HIT FOR THE LIVE VIEWING SENKOU!

Lets get onto the review now that I've calmed down....

Now I'm not gunna write everything out; we all know Toustage, we all know the story of it; we've all seen the first DVD multiple times. So I'm just going to write down everything that was different this time including the gungi scene, the curtain call etc. Ready?! Okay!

Oh Official Website here.

I've been meaning to talk about this dream for DAYS but kept forgetting to post it here xD a lot of you probably have no idea what I'm talking about but let me have my moment >.<

Me and the Touken Ranbu boys were sent a mission to go back in time to Natzi Germany and to destroy them all.

So we go back and join the war. So we're practically on a Helms Deep/LOTR like building and turns out the main Natzi leaders look exactly like Tywin Lannister/Charles Dance and the guy from Star Wars xD

So me and the boys were defeating the Naztis and actually the castle was all above water on stilt like things so you could easily dive into the water below and have under water fights xD

During our battle we'd sneakily set up the castle with various booms and so while I was fighting underwater the booms detonated and it all ended perfectly with me and Yamanbagiri (who I LOVE!!!) who was actually the Aramaki version of him (MAKICHAN!!) sharing a kiss underwater in victory xD

It was a good dream...

Hey guys! I did purely a stage actor one back in May which you can check out here.

My Watching/Keeping-an-Eye-on actors have somewhat drastically changed, particularly over last summer, so I want to keep you all updated. Also this gives me a chance to talk about some actors that impressed me last year and that I hope continue to grow through out this year. As well as solidifying to you guys who my bias' are xD

So let's do... movie/tv actors first.

I only have two guys who I want to see progress this next year:

( 2 Movie/TV Actors ) )

Okay so now I'll tell you my bias', which you probably all know anyway but this past year my bias' have increased from 2 bias' to 3! So here we go:

( One New Addition! ) )

And finally here are my 'Keeping an Eye on Actors' that hopefully will stay with me until atleast March/April-ish. I do warn you, it's a drastic change xD also I warn you; I'm a sucker for actors who take the time to like and/or reply to my tweets, and/or take time to talk to me during events/after plays and that's influenced my list below A LOT.

( Pretty and Sweet Boys ) )

And I think that's my list. As you can see it's super changed and it's definitely smaller compared to last time but hopefully this allows me to start saving money also as that's a BIG goal for this year ^_^

So it's that time of year again where I decide what I definitely will warch and let me tell you... this was hard!

Usually I do two seperate 'Upcoming Doramas' and 'What I will Watch' Lists BUT this season, I wanna see ALL the ones that interest me! So I'm putting both the lists together this time! << Forgive me? So first! The complete list:

( The list feels short this time ) )

And now for what interested me:

2017winterdorama4

( 7 Doramas! ) )

There's only six this time BUT winter doramas are usually really slow and dark so I'm surprised and happy at how many interesting and fun ones we're getting! ^_^ In terms of how likely I am to watch them, it goes:

From 1000% Will Watch:
Dansui
Ueno-san
Shikaku Tantei
Star Consheruto
Gin to Kin
By Players
Ubai Ai, Fuyu

Obviously continuing from the Autumn season I still have Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger.

And now for the Anime I Will Watch this Season:

Yowamushi Pedal: The Next Generation
Tuesdays from jan 10th at 1:35am

The third season of YowaMushi

Touken Ranbu is supposed to come out in Winter too but the date is still undecided so maybe it's been delayed...

I'm still working through Hunter x Hunter, Prince of Tennis etc. but I should really sort that out right? xD It's been going on for too long! haha

---

And that's my Winter 2017 watching list!! If I missed any that interested you let me know down below!! ^_^

Btw, do you prefer when it's Anime Interested List, Dorama Interest List and Will Watch List or would you prefer they were all together like this one is/ Let me know below!

On Tuesday I finally went to my last two shows of the month - it's been an absolutely CRAZY month! And let me tell you, the craziness started BEFORE the show even began!

honoonomirage3

This play is the 3rd installment for the series and the basic plot is (this is gunna be so shitty, I understand the plot completely in my mind but explaining it is hard):

Kase and Naoya are reincarnations of past feudal war lords, and it is basically their job to live in through different reincarnations and different generations and times fighting against evil spirits that are tring to get revenge or are posessing other people. Every time our main characters die, they take on another's body and life.

Did that make enough sense? Does that sound interesting enough? Good!

Oh and one more small thing; every time they get reincarnated they have a decision between taking on this body's person's memories and possibly losing their own, or throwing away that person's life in order to keep on to who they are as a person. Complicated right? Sorry!

And they (Sho and MakiChan) had said on a stream that even first timers will understand the story and plot of this installment so I didn't have to worry about watching any of the others before seeing this ^_^

The PreShow

Well I just sold my soul. I came with 30,000 for the day and I was stood at the front of the counter trying to figure out how to save 400yen cos I'd gone over my budget. But in my defense the DVDs I bought are my Christmas presents -- but now I'm paying for it because I have no money to afford all my senkou tickets for this month =[ so I might have to cancel a few tickets (including my Seto one) if I hit...

IMG_0980

^^ Everything I bought... I regret nothing!!

^^ The freebies <3

^^ My christmas presents!

Now onto theseating. I got an aisle seat for the first one which is awesome! And my second seat wasn't too bad either which is nice ^_^ Got a good view whatever =]

IMG_0975

Also before the show, they announced that the play is 2hours and 30mins without a break which shocked me a little... also a girl next to me was writing a letter and was writing her address on the back of her letter envelope. I've never thought of doing that!! Most of my Japanese friends go 'why do you not write your line or your email in your letters'? and my only answer is 'Cos it's like a rule not to!' But the more people ask me why I don't, the more I think 'why the fuck not' because in reality if the actor has a brain, he ain't gunna contact a fan is he?! If he does... he's an idiot. In my opinion haha anyway...

ALSO! There was a specific announcement on the blog before the show performances even started which stated 'do not look at your pamphlet until after the show and if you do look, please do it somewhere where others won't see it,' yet some mother fucker sat next to me was flipping through the pamphlet wide open! I tried so hard not to look! But it really made me angry that they clearly hadn't seen the twitter OR blog announcement of it.... -_- respect the system!

Anyway! Now onto the show!!

The Show

**Quick note. I made 39 mental notes during my second viewing of this stage BUT I've forgotten at least 10 of the points so sorry! Wish I had the balls to sit with my notebook and quickly write notes as I watched plays...

First thing I noticed; the music and the projection mapping! The projection mapping is very good! I really like the opening graphics and it's so cool how they introduce everyone while using the projection mapping and the power spell things are super cool too! And the music is amazing! I really hope they put it on a soundtrack CD!! Seriously, it's so good and very empowering and very actiony. The theme music?! OMG give it to me now!! BUT in contrast to the music which is very empowering, the play itself is very slow and there's like no action in it. Which really surprised me because I was expecting a lot of action and fight scenes and a lot of powers being used etc. but it wasn't this at all! So that really shocked me the first time and disppointed and bored me a little the first time around. The second showing I knew what I was getting into so could enjoy it a little more.

IMG_0966 (2)

I really enjoyed how the stage worked too! First: not a lot of stairs! So naturally my anxiety wasn't playing up xD Also they would open sections and pull out whole settings which was cool and simply pull them back to change the scene and such. And of couse the projection mapping helped with setting the scene (the switches between the settings where they would have black and white shots of old Shanghai and in another Tokyo Tower being built etc. so beatiful!).

(Most of my negatives are mainly from my first viewing.) At the end of the first show I was also a little confused because I felt the first half didn't have anything to do with the actual main story of the play which took place in the second half of the stage! Also the main characters are literally non-existent in the first half of this show which again is a little disappointing. BUT turns out that it's true that it's not really suppose to relate to the main plot of the stage. The first half of the stage is just simply showing previous lives of three out of our five main characters. Seemingly, according to my friend who I spoke to after the stage, this whole first half is there to make up for the lack of backstory of the three-non-main-main characters we got in the previous two plays. So in a sense I get why this first half way needed but personally, I could do without those three MC's back stories. The only two people and characters that matter are the two actual main characters am I right?!?! xD

Also I was expecting it to be very action packed and that just didn't happen so I was a little disappointed there too... anyway! To the good stuff!

( Enjoy the historical adventure xD ) )

This was a lot easier to write than Okimesu xD thank god!

I'm sorry I've fallen behind YET again on reviews! I have this one, and at least a Nikoniko Live report left and then on Sunday I'm at another play so that makes it 3 reviews and hopefully I'll get them ALL done before I go on holiday next Monday! ^_^ So here we go; HAKUMYU LIVE 2!

IMG_5705

The Basics

So if you don't know what Hakuouki is; fix that straigh away! The anime is only 26 episodes long and I've heard the games are pretty easy to get through but they are Otome games so they might not be your cup of team. If you don't wanna waste that time the basics are; A girl joins the Shinsengumi in hopes of finding her father and depending on which stage or game you're watching/playing the Shinsengumi guy who ends up with her in the end changes and the story is tweaked and changed a little each version too. HakuMyu Live 2 is the second live from the musical series (it's like the... 9th installment?) and it's essentially a two hour concert where they sing their songs from the musical and have some fun and games in between too. This is the first live to first the Second and Third (4th Gen Hijikata too) gens of the actors/characters.

The Live Viewing Experience

Now I went and watched this as an LV which means Live Viewing. This is essentially, paying for a ticket half the price to watch it live from a theatre rather than going and seeing it in person. I had NO chance of getting tickets for this so I ended up doing the LV instead and it was my first LV.

Long story short: I wouldn't recommend doing LV but I think maybe I got a bad crowd. Before the LV began, we got a lovely message from the cinema which was like 'please have fun, it's okay to clap, make sure you have your pen light on and act like you're really there' so I was raring to go, thinking 'yeah everyone's gunna be so on board!' I was WRONG! There were only like three people will lights, it was completely silence unless someone was crying, or something comical happened on stage, or something funny was said by the actors, and hardly anyone clapped during the curtain call which personally I think is fucking rude as hell cos I even clap when I'm watching the freaking DVD! Have some respect for the actor busting their ass on there! What the hell?! Other bad things I wanna cover:

1. Doesn't feel real. Feels like you're just watching a DVD.
2. There's the fear (and warning that they put up) that the connection might be lost in parts.
3. I think you lose some emotion and tenseness by not being there actually in person because (as I said) just feels like you're watching a DVD.
4. You have no control over who you can watch cos the camera will choose the focus and close ups for you which sucks cos it meant my MakiChan stalking time was completely shot down.
5. I hated the crowd I was with and kinda ruined MY enjoyment of it - already explained.
6. The performance will be the same as the one on the DVD which is a shame so I'll only have seen one version rather than two different ones...
7. The sound quality at my cinema sucked! Could hardly hear Hashimoto and MakiChan at some points, especially when they were singing! I know they have delicate and soft voices but come on! -_-

IMG_5714

But I will say some good things:

1. Half the price of a normal ticket so you're saving money there
2. No bad seating
3. Camera close ups so you don't need glasses and you'll be able to see everything better than if you went in person
4. If you seriously do wanna see a play badly and you don't wanna wait for the DVD. Then it's worth it.

IMG_5902

So it does have good points but overall either just get the DVD or see it live in person.

Now onto the actual live!

What Shenanigans Went On?!

Luckily I managed to find someone who wrote up the entire set list so I'll put that here first ^_^

setlist2setlist1
Let me know if you want the English list! Though it might take me sometime to 'translate' it depending on the kanji and if I can remember the performance xD

Now the cast list:

Hijikata - Matsuda Gaku
Okita - Aramaki Yoshihiko [usually referred to as MakiChan]
Saito - Hashimoto Shohei
Chizuru - Fujikoso Yumi
Heisuke - Kizu Tsubasa*
Harada - Higashi Keisuke [usually referred to as TonChan]
Shinpachi - Fukuyama Shouta*
Yamazaki - Takasaki Shouta [usually referred to as TakaChan]
Kondou - Imata Taira
Ibuki - Shiramata Atsushi [sometimes referred to as MataChan]
Serizawa - Kubodera Akira
Shiranui - Kashiwagi Yusuke
Yukimura - Edogawa Manji
Kazama - Suzuki Shougo/Shogo

*These were the two new guys to the cast for this so now we're on 3rd Gen Heisuke and Shinpachi

This is (possibly) gunna be a very all about type of review (and as usual I'll switch between actor name and character name) because I don't actually remember a lot and it's probably because I felt like I was watching a DVD so I didn't pay as much attention as I would've been if I'd been in person. But I'll try and go down the list. I'll mark my paragraphs and sections matching the Set List numbers.

( Yaisa! Yaisa! Yaisa! ) )

--

Holy moly i finally wrote it!!

--

Overall: This was SO good! I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with all the songs and I'm SO happy that I got to finally see MakiChan sing Paint It Blood because it's my favourite song! I'm very happy with the new Heisuke too but not too sure on new Shinpachi. I am excited for the next installment but very worried about whether Suzuki Shogo will be continuing as Kazama or not =S

Rating: 9/10

I'm done! Now let me eat!! This took me like 4 hours to write!

Plot

The year is 20XX and 12 20-something year olds have been picked randomly through My Number (it's like the social security system) and will dicuss whether Article 9 should stay in motion, or if it should be completely scrapped. What THEY don't know is that their decision will officially decide the answer for the government.

If you don't know what Article 9 is then... seriously?! But I'll tell you anyway:

Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution came into effect on May 3, 1947, following World War II. It stops Japan from having an official army and cannot go to war unless (as of a recent interpretation) an allied country is the one being attacked.

That's the quick jist of it anyway. Go and do your research if you wanna learn more. OR just watch this film because...

( This movie impressed me so hard! ) )

---

And that's my review! I'm mostly likely and most definitely gunna get this and it's making on DVD xD

Overall: I was so impressed with this movie! If you don't know what Article 9 is then don't worry because this movie explains it in great detail. I really liked the arguments that came up in this movie and there were some amazing performances and some amazing scenes, especially from Baba <3 I freaking loved the ending too and what so impressed with many things that happened in this. I'm definitely Against Article 9 though and this movie definitely solidified my view of this. Everyone should watch this; whether it be educational reasons, political reasons, historical reasons or just because you're interested in Japan!

SENGOKU MUSOU!!! This is the second installment to the series (it's 2.5 theatre so lets assume this is now gunna be a series). I watched the first one back in May and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a LOT more than Basara (both have Sengoku in their titles amd I'm pretty sure both games are by the SAME company so I'm naturally gunna compare the stages between them too. I think the stages are the same company too *runs to check* Musou is Marv so it's clearly a 2.5 production... BASARA seems to be produced by CAPCOM themselves so... but anyway, I'm comparing okay!)

IMG_3006

Pre-Show Worries

I was a little worried, as I always am with historical stages with how much I'll understand and for Musou, I was going in knowing nothing except I knew the cast, I knew it was the sengoku period, I knew it was at Shikoku BUT I actually couldn't find any historical info on this Shikoku event - probably because it wasn't called Shikoku at the time- so I went in knowing nothing. LUCKILY, I was able to understand at least 50% of what was going on... the other 50% I was either lost (mainly too many names to try to remember especially when in Sengoku their characters look COMPLETELY different to what they would've looked like in real life) or I've forgotten cos I'm a stupid ass that doesn't write complete notes after a play anymore -__- I need to fix that... so yes because I had SUCH a hard time (and disappointment) with the first BASARA (see review here) I was worried about this one BUT I had watched the first Musou stage and understood it pretty completely so it was half dread, half excitement, cos y'know, Maki-Chan xD I'm waffling now, let's move on.

So let's get down to the important parts.

IMG_3007

The Story

( I fail at understanding history ) )

---

Overall: This was very entertaining! I loved the action and the choreography was great! The comedy was spot on and was rather frequent and added to my entertainment value. Ueda is a freaking giant god on stage with that presence and voice of his <3 MakiChan was so smiley and his role was cute! ^_^ But I felt the stage time was a little odd and I felt everyone didn't get enough time and I hope there's a third installment where we get more stage time from people and more character development. Also, due to my own lack of research prior to the play, I got a little lost in the story. I look forward to the DVD!

This was a ride of adlibs and craziness seriously...

I watched most (or all) of the anime before watching this - and I think I decided to watch this play because of.... Shouta? So I went in NOT knowing just how well known Tomoru is and I clearly went into it not knowing a thing about MakiChan (thus this began my love and discovery of him). I really enjoyed this! This'll be a little over the place as A. it's been months since I watched it B. my notes are pretty much NEVER in order C. I wanna get this done asap.

IMG_6571

( Professionally Unprofessional ) )

---

This was so hilarious and professionally unprofessional and I'm SO glad I broke last week and preordered the DVD (which comes out on Thursday!) cos I seriously wanna see this again! I hope they do a second stage in the future! It was so much fun and swear to go 50% of it was adlibbed xD

I already posted this on tumblr but also wanted to bring it over here.
So me and Tina were obviously discussing plays yesterday and she asked me what actors I was keeping an eye on and at the time I only told her a few but since then I’ve thought more about it so I thought I’d let you know the full list including when they first caught my eye, what I’m watched them in since and when I’ll probably let them go (not in a negative way but I would’ve seen them enough to make a decision as to how I think their career will go, because I don’t have/keep favourites except Yanagishita Tomo and KAT-TUN).

*Btw, what I mean by Keeping an Eye on is that I am physically going out and spending money to see them and on them (e.g. goods). Once I ‘let them go’ I’ll still watch the stuff they produce that comes out on DVD but I won’t make the effort to see them in a stage just because they’re in it after they’re off the list (I have another post coming up explaining the whole ‘Watching Stage Plays’ system I have set up in my head).

1. Maeyama Takahisa - Kept an Eye on Since August 10th-ish (since D-Live 2015). Watched in D-Live, Yuhiden, Binan KouKou LOVE, Handsome Rakugo. Will be watching in Caramel Box with Jinnai Sho in June and in D-Stage 19th Shakespeare. Previously watched in Kamen Rider Wizard years ago. While I’ve seen a LOT of his stuff (which I hadn’t realised!!) I still don’t feel confident in his career so will probs keep an eye on him til the end of the year if he has anything after Shakespeare. I just need to see a little more of his range and performance.

2. Ikeoka Ryousuke - Kept an Eye on Since Yuhiden (October 2015). Watched in Yuhiden, Litchi Hikari Club, Corpse Party (movie), Naritai Jibun ni Nare, . Currently working through Tenimyu Season Two so been watching his performances in that closely too. Will be seeing him in the next Corpse Party movie which comes out in July/August. But he has nothing currently planned after that. I’ll keep an eye on him until at least the end of the year. He seems to have one of the more quiet careers which worries me but I’ve been very satisfied by his perfomances and range so far. But I do want to see him with a few more gigs (and a bit more weight btw!) before I let him go. If he lets me go - he’s the only one who’s really fighting in my head to become a favourite.

3. Izaki Ryujiro - Kept an Eye on Since Comic Jack (February 2016). I’ve seen him in a few things before this year but he caught my eye (obviously) in Comic Jack and have since seen him in Dance with Devils and the DVD version of his team’s solo Tenimyu live, and will be seeing him in Dream Live this month and in Shakespeare in July(?). I’ll probably let him go once I’ve seen him in Shakespeare and in the Adekan DVD. He’s got a bright future in my opinion and I think he’ll be majorly popular (if he isn’t already) so I’m confident enough in him that he doesn’t need me to worry about him xD

4. Aramaki Yoshihiko - Kept an Eye on Since Binan Koukou LOVE (February 2016). He caught my eye as Ryuu-sama in Binan KouKou (I am a SUCKER for guys in pink okay and he was VERY pink. Plus he has cute knees! << I know it’s weird shhh!). I literally have watched NOTHING else from this boy yet BUT I will be getting the Touken Ranbu DVD and goods and I WILL be seeing him in Sengoku Musou and I’ll probably be following him until at least next February depending on how busy he gets.

5. Yasukawa Junpei - Kept an Eye on Since Dance with Devils (February 2016). He was in Ayakashi but I didn’t know about him until I saw him in Dance with Devils and he was playing Shiki <3 and I LOVE Shiki! I;ve since gone back to watch him properly in Ayakashi. I’ve still yet to see him in Tenimyu. I’m probably gunna keep him on this list for a long time cos he just recently left his company so is currently under no company (I think Maki-chan is the same o_O) which worries me a little. He’s very busy for the time being and I hope he will continue to get busy after August but I’ll keep him here just in case he doesn’t get as busy with work as I hope.

6. Shiramata Atsushi - Kept an Eye on Since BASARA (February 2016). I don’t know what interested me in Shira- no wait, now I remember. I rewatched D-Live 2015 when it finally came out on DVD and I noticed this loud annoying guy that was with Shin-chan and Omi and for some reason I was completed intrudged by him even though he would normally be a guy i despise but the fact he acted like he had an ego but could become so embarrassed so easily is what drew me to him. So I went to BASARA and he played a loud guy, exactly what I expected but then I saw him at the after talk and he was so funny and once again something happened that made him embarrassed and I found it so cute! Then I went to Paranoia Circus where I got my first taste of him not being loud and egotistic in a way xD and I was really impressed by his performance in it, and then I saw him in Fairy Tail and then I will see him in BASARA. I will eventually get around to Giam which he’s in but I will let him off this list once BASARA is done. I am confident in his acting and will try and watch the other things he’s been in when/if I get chance, if they have DVDs. (I really liked his trio moment in TRUMP too).

I think that’s about it. Just those 5 6... I thought I had like a list of 10 people but turns out no.

SO!

Who’ll be next? I honestly don’t know. I considered some but then chose not to; here’s why:

( Potentials and Who Missed Out ) )

And that’s the last for now! If you have any actors you’re keeping an eye on let me know!
