Oyasumi Jack the Ripper review!
Watched this on Friday 22nd April! ^_^ Also it's important you all know: My first stage play in 42 days!!!

舞台「おやすみジャック・ザ・リッパー」メインビジュアル

Unfortunately it looks like this isn't getting a DVD (if it is, let me know!) which is a shame because it was SO much fun and it had a lot of elements that I enjoyed.

Where to start with this... I've read all the current manga chapters out for this stage and while they're incorprate the basic structure and plot of the manga, they added two new stories which aren't in the manga at all! Of course the main point is 'try and get tickets to move from hell and go to heaven by being the best shop' but the added in the Grim Reapers back story (which was hilarious!) and The Ring who ended up being a guy and not a girl and that was hilarious too. More on that later.. let's tread back a bit.

How close did I wanna be? XD I still needed glasses to see their faces perfectly though >_<

First Half

KA sang in the beginning and his (it's a guy right? I've still not doubled checked to see if it's a girl or a boy playing him xD it's an actress) voice was really nice! ^_^
The humour is great!! I laughed a lot and the audience laughed a lot and I had major giggles at times. My TRUE laugh came out during this show which hasn't happened since either Show by Rock and Binan Koukou LOVE xD

おやすみ、ジャック・ザ・リッパー

One scene I liked was; Wolfy and Jack went into the audience after about 20 minutes into the stage and the initial set up story and introductions had been done. They waked about 8 rows back and stopped (Wolfy was leading).
Wolfy: 友達と来ましたか? = Did you come with friends?
Girl: いや、一人で = No I came alone
Wolfy: 寂しいね〜 = That's lonely (could technically be transalted to 'that's sad' if we interpret him being sacastic)
Ed (Shota): ヴォルフィー! = WOLFY!

Naturally we all laughed from Wolfy saying 'that's lonely' and then laughing harder when Shota told him off XD

Even Shota was laughing and it seemed genuine! An example of Shota dying was when Jack sneaked right up behind him and Shota turned and went '(too close!) 近!' XD he looked like he had been genuinely shocked. And there were times where he was half laughing while saying his lines which was great <3

And there was another very funny scene when Wolfy tried to give Jack some candy floss (dialogue following):
Jack: Why (are you giving me candy floss)?
Wolfy: (生活苦しいね。) Life is hard right
We ALL died xD

This stage made me LAUGH a lot. For most of the play they called Edward Scissorhands 'kani (meaning crab)' and make lots of crab jokes and he's always like 'I'm not a crab!! And these are scissors!' xD Another funny Kani moment was when they sad Ed walk forward and they were like 'you can walk forward?! but you're a crab!' 'I'm not a crab look! I can do forward, backwards, side-' 'He can walk to the side - he's a crab!' 'I'm not a crab!' xD

They tried being a host club at one point as well and has the club-like music going on but Shota/Ed quickly shot the idea down and told them to stick to their hairdresser business >.<

Now onto the stuff I mentioned earlier; they've added two plot lines that aren't even in the manga yet! Which I liked because there really isn't ANY story going on in the manga yet; it's still very introducing everything and characters and so on. So I was kinda happy they added these two stories in and they're took up a decent amount of time - and were enjoyable too ^_^

I don't remember the scene very well but there is one moment where Ed/Shota is cutting paper and he's like 'I'm really cutting this! Look! I'm really cutting this!' and then as he continues to cut he told a funny story (something about the internet and sending people money - shame I've forgotten =[) and he's like 'don't send people money okay. Whatever you do, don't do it. Seriously don't do it.... I've finished look! ... definitely do not send people money!'

OOO! And can I just say!! I LOVED Ed's shoes!! Holy shit they were NICE! His green suit too was VERY nice!! Seriously, those shoes though!! They caught my attention just as much as the actors. If I was a guy, I would've gone out and bought a pair asap! No kidding!

おやすみ、ジャック・ザ・リッパー

One story they added was Ring (yes as in the girl from The Ring, BUT it's a guy not a girl) skit and one is about the Shinigami xD
The ring skit was hilarious cos it'd started with a delivery coming to the hairdressers (seemingly american's call this a hairsalon? I'm always teaching my student hairdressers. I've never know a British person call it a hairsalon unless they're posh as fuck or at least trying to be. Anyway! xD fun English-langiage-difference-point-of-the-day over!) and Jack isn't at home so Wolfy and Ed decide to open it and it's an old TV. So they take it out and plug it in but it doesn't work. Then Ring pops out of the TV and Shota/Ed gets dragged into the TV yelling and screaming, then it ALL goes quiet and about 20 seconds later he comes back out all smiling and happy - which is amusing xD Ring follows him out and they talk about how everyone is afraid of him and he wants to change his job and Jack had previously promised to help him out so now Ed is left to help him, but the only way he CAN help is by cutting his hair - which'll hopefully help him get a new job.
I really liked how Ring walked and how his nails and legs and feet had blood makeup on and I really like how much of a sweet character he was and isn't scary at all ^_^
Also, Ring got his hair cut super fast xD they were like 'let's go!' *quick flash of light and Shota grabs the wig, pulls it off and throws it backstage - another comedic moment*. Ring gives Ed like 2,000,000 yen and leaves xD

(At the time:) First half done!! OMG there's so many Kani jokes and Shota ran and walked past me. Me and Wolfy have locked eyes a few times too!

Second Half

おやすみ、ジャック・ザ・リッパー

Ibuka had a solo song moment and damn he can fecking sing!! XD I was impressed ^_^ I've only known him in HSSL and this so my knowledge and standards for him are obviously very low.
We got a huge chunk and backstory on Jack and it was great how they used the screen at the back to have his lover talking and the lines coming up on the screen.
It was also interesting how they implied that Ed is Jack's son but no one confirmed anything outright! =O I don't remember that happening in the manga!
Then part way through Jack's back story he started talking about a heartshaped cookie he once recieved (he struggled getting it out of his pocket though, poor Ibuka xD) and they stopped to do a skit. They had to do a 'if you were a girl how would you give a cookie to a guy (you like)' skit and Shota was adorable!! <3 first he said 'okay ths situation is I'm giving this cookie to my senpai' the audience were like 'senpai' as if him being super specific gave away something Shota himself was actually thinking of xD Shota pretended to be a girl and pretended he was hiding behind a wall and stook/pushed his butt out as he looked around the corner xD and was like 'Senpai... I made this for you'
Ibuka was like 'that's too normal!' xD
And then they did a 'what type of girls do you like' and Ibuka was like 'when you ask them what they want to do for their birthday and they say 'go to the theme park, watch a movie, eat food, and to go out/date (as in 'tsukiau'. So they haven't started dating in this situation he's talking of)' Shota started laughing and said 'dokidoki shimashita (That made my heart race)' XD So cute!!

おやすみ、ジャック・ザ・リッパー

A lot of this second half was focused off Ed's crab jokes and more on giving Wolfy commands. They made Wolfy do lots of 'tricks' XD he can bloody move too! They were like 'paw, other paw, paw, other paw, spin, jump, paw, spin, jump, paw, paw' and he would always do what ever they told him! That takes so energy!
I was overall impressed with Wolfy's performance anyway because he was ALWAYS moving, jumping, doing the dog on four legs jumps runs and just overall his actual staminia to perform such an active role and not be knackered by the end impressed me a lot!

We got the main part of the Grim Reaper's story here too! So apparently the Grim Reaper had come to visit Jack after 400 years to reoffer him the position of leaving hell and becoming a Grim Reaper with him. Jack had rejected the offer the first time and rejected the offer again (after some fighting choreography between him, Grimmy and Ed) and told him to come back in ten years time. During this story arc, it came out that the Grimm reaper has a mother complex, and thus the rest of the cast on stage were yelling 'momma! momma!' for ages and and they kept going and it was hilarious xD when they eventually stopped Shota went to yell again and Wolfy was like 'that's enough' and so we were all laughing again!

And OMG the second time the Grim Reaper comes on stage and it's this club like music and he's like 'no, no no! Change it! You know what music I mean!' *changes to another club song* 'No no! Not this either! Come on! What are you playing at?!' *rock music comes one* 'here we go!' and continues his entrance xD

As you can tell I enjoyed myself a LOT during this stage play and there were a lot of funny moments and it was just a great piece of entertainment ^_^

However! It did feel a bit like something was 'missing' because there are only 8 chapters of the manga out at the moment and because they did have to add in these extra stories, I feel like it wasn't a full complete story with a solid plot. But then again it did technically end because, thanks to Ring's payment, the shop WON the tickets to heaven but only Ed went, and he ended up coming at after a week anyway to continue working at the haridressers with everything, so I like how they wrapped it up anyway ^_^

The other negative is it doesn't look like it's getting a DVD, so sorry you can't witness what I did! ='[

There were two girls in this too but they weren't in it much and when they were, they were just chasing after Wolfy, so nothing to say about them. I was jealous at how small they were and how nice their legs were though =[

The only part of the after talk I remember what they obviously mentioning Kumamoto and that you can give donations outside in the lobby. And then the other part was when the Grim Reaper got to talk today and he's like 'I don't usually look like this... it took me a lot of courage to come out and where this type of thing today *looks at his bare midrift*... I wasn't sure how it'd look...' it was funny cos he was pretending to act all shy xD

Overall: This was a great play and very enjoyable with lots of laughter and dokidoki moments because I was SO close to the front and also Wolfy kept looking at me and he's my favourite character <3 Shota's definitely NOT photogenic but is BEAUTIFUL in real life <3 shame this isn't getting a DVD because it's 2 hours of enjoyment and laughter with some heartful parts thrown in. It did feel a bit 'missing' because there are only 8 chapters of the manga out but I like how they wrapped it up.
