Rinsho Hanzai Gakusha Himura Hideo no Suiri Review!

Finished all my Winter 2016 stuff today (March 30th), finishing off with this one! Let's get this review down!

I am so glad I watched this dorama! I am a HUGE lover of cop/detective/mystery shows in Japan, yet I can't stand the US shows (like CSI, Bones, NCIS etc.). So I watch lots of doramas in this genre but this was great! I love how these is essentially Japanese Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Obviously Himura is Sherlock and he's obsessed with finding the perfect crime and also has killing tendecies himself, but he is also a huge cat lover <3 Arisu (short for Arisugawa) is a mystery writer and follows Himura and helps him figure out the murders and crimes. Himura and Arisu's relationship is amazing <3 It's SO gay ^_^ the entire series we follow Arisu constantly trying to save and help Himura - if that's not love then everyone's wrong on what love is! I love their dynamic and their relationship and the comedy between them is great! Yes that's another thing, this dorama is both dark AND comedic ^_^ On behalf of the actors themselve: Saito Takeru is SERIOUSLY one of those 'is somehow getting better and better with age' type of actors. He is so juicy in this! Both looks and talent wise! And we all know how amazing Kubota's acting is, and I enjoyed seeing him play (once again) something completely different to what I've seen him play before.

Yamamoto Yusuke guest starred in this which makes me happy but have you noticed since he 'scandal' like 2 years ago, they've stopped giving him main roles? Makes me super upset ='[ I wanna see him in the center again!

Which reminds me: can we all just give a round of applause to newcomer Onodera Akira?! I mean holy crap! He was SO good in this and this was his drama debut!! He's SUCH a cutie but at the same time he played the role of a psycho killer so well! I loved his dynamic and how he changed from being a normal kid to being dark and wow! He's definitely one to keep an eye on!!

I enjoyed every episode of this and I enjoyed every murder/crime and the journey of figuring it out. All the guests were great too and I really liked how ALL the females in this were so strong and were really great roles! There was nothing stereotypical about them and they were all badass in their own way! So props to Yuka, Hasegawa Kyoko and Natsuki Mari, and Yamamoto Mizuki. Shimizu Kazuki was really cute in his role but I feel he ALWAYS plays the softer, weaker characters (even though he's play a detective here. You may remember him as Hakase from Gokaiger) and I'd like to see him stretch his acting a little more. In fact ALL the acting and casting in this is solid. Even Takeuchi Ryoma in his short moment did well too! But I do feel they just said to him 'just bring your Shitamachi Rocket costume so we don't have to make one for you' cos it's like the exact same uniform when we first see him xD and to add even more Tokusatsu actors to the list Sano Gaku and Yoshizawa Ryo worked together in episode 2 (seriously their story in episode 2 struck a cord with me!) and their episode and mystery was interesting too. Just... I cannot talk enough about the actors in this series seriously...

The main reason why this isn't a 9 or 10 out of 10 star is because of two things. The first thing is the murders and mystery themselves: they were too obvious for me. I always figured out at least half of the murder details before Himura even revealed them. Especially episode 8 and 9's mystery, I figured out pretty much straight away - maybe I have a detective instincts? xD But yes, I found the crimes to not be that difficult to figure out. Then second thing is the ending. JUST like YamaNeko we end we the MC possibly coming back but all we see is Arisu's facial feature and BAM finished. I am SICK of these 'decide for yourself what happens next' Japanese ends -_- I need closure - especially these types of things I need closure! But AGAIN like YamaNeko there's still some questions that have NOT been answered and like seriously a second two or a movie MUST be in the works or else WTF is with the ending RAGE! xD

Overall: This is Japanese Sherlock Holmes, but is very gay between Himura and Arisu! Amazing casting and acting, even down to the guests! Psst. LOTS of Tokusatsu actors are in this!! I really loved Himura and Arisu's relationship. I also liked the humour in this - it made me giggle a lot. I enjoyed the mysteries/crimes a lot even though I could figure them all out pretty much straight away. And this drama (like YamaNeko) definitely had an ending that was NOT really the end - give me a second season right now!
